Road trips rock. Road trips that end in deliciousness rock even harder. For a lot of people, summertime means great local food is in season. Whether it’s an established farmer’s market or a roadside stall selling homemade pies and sweet corn, local food tastes better, supports our farmers and helps connect us with the food we eat.
Over the past couple of years my Dad and Step Mom have started a tasty road tripping tradition during strawberry season in Ontario (June-ish). I’ve included some photos from our backyard adventure this year. Note: buy extra of whatever you’re getting. A LOT of our strawberries didn’t make it home owing to their extreme tastetacularity.

- Pick a Saturday
- Grab some friends
- Hit the road
- Stop at as many markets, roadside stalls and local farms with food for sale as you can
- Head home and make yourselves a feast of local proportions
