    Ottawa has been our go-to family vacation spot for the past 6 years. Love this place! Favorites include brunch at the Byward Market, biking along hte canal and blues fest…

    1. Walk / hike / mountain bike / snowshoe / cross-country ski through the trails in Gatineau Park. Go for a swim in one of the many lakes and camp overnight in a tent, yurt, or cabin.
    2. Eat shawarma, pho, poutine, or Beavertails
    3. Visit the Museums of Nature, History, War. See the National Gallery.
    4. Walk or bike along the Rideau Canal or the Ottawa River
    5. Have a picnic at Mooney’s Bay or Vincent Massey Park or Britannia Beach
    6. Look at the waterfall at Hog’s Back
    7. Do a brewery tour to Bicycle, Broken Stick, Beyond the Pale, Dominion, Broadhead, Whiprsnapr, Kichesippi
    8. Catch a game with the Ottawa Senators or the Ottawa Redblacks
    9. Tiptoe through the tulips in May
    10. Skate on the canal in February

    Nordik spa is my happy place!!!
    The best coffee and goat cheese croissant are at the Wild Oat on Bank Street in the Glebe.
    Favourite bookstore is at YOW/airport, but also Octopus books (Third Av. also in the Glebe).
    Best margs at Blue Cactus in the Byward Market.
    High tea at The Tea Party (also in Byward Market).
    Walks or bike rides along the Greenboro bike paths.
    Picnics or walks in the Governor General’s gardens (open to the public year round!)
    And don’t forget Gatineau, across the river — Gatineau park, and also nice French bistros.

    – hiking around Mud Lake, one of the most diverse ecosystems anywhere
    – accessibility to so many outdoor adventures
    – lots and lots of music festivals

    Enjoying a cone of gelato at stellaluna
    Seeing the turtles sunning themselves in Petrie island, orleans
    Biking along the Ottawa river pathway – goes all the way to parliament
    Doing a haunted walk downtown
    Skating at the governor generals skating rink( can be reserved free in advance, for groups)
