Badge of Awesome Communities invites you to share your favourite things to see and do in cool destinations around the world. We caught up with the folks from Argyle Fine Art — one of our featured attractions from Nova Scotia — to learn about what they have to offer.
What makes Argyle Fine Art awesome?
Argyle Fine Art: Argyle Fine Art has been in business for 18 years, and in that time we always strive to make our gallery the most awesome by creatively reaching out to people from all walks of life to share in the power of original art! Although we are a commercial art gallery and our primarily focus is to sell artwork by our amazingly talented artists we also play an important role in our city: We expose. We create community. We educate. We inspire.
We are especially interested in exposing our visitors to the unique styles of art being created by our Atlantic Canadian artists. Our artists are some of the best in the world- at least that’s what our visitors tell us. We showcase a variety of styles of art from fine to folk and emerging artist to established. New works arrive each week, new interactive window displays are switched up each Thursday and full new exhibits happen each month. There’s always something happening at Argyle Fine Art! We want to expose our artists and visiting artists to new opportunities.
We love collaborating with other businesses in our community as well as supporting select local charities. We have many events at the gallery that get people more engaged with art and complimentary businesses. We’ve hosted chocolate parties, wine tastings, we’ve had a beer made by a local brewery and launched during a recent opening with the label created by one of our artists, we’ve hosted breakfast openings with local cafes, yoga, readings, we’ve had drawing days with live animals like owls and more to support charities like Hope for Wildlife and more! Skies the limit!

We educate the public everyday- whether it be when they visit us over their lunch break or on vacation- by just speaking about our local artists and their techniques. We also encourage people to start their collections, and make it affordable to do — such as our print subscription program. We also have very flexible payment plans, organize public art events and installations. We host fun workshops lead by a variety of artists as well, with a wide range of topics.
We inspire…. well really the art does that for us! We just facilitate it and try to use art as a tool to get people thinking about how it’s really an important part of their daily lives. We want people to understand that art is all around us. Our artists are professional but also have a good senses of humour. We approach life with art in a friendly and fun way. We make art accessible or everyone.
