Experience Labrador – Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada

Badge of Awesome Communities invites you to share your favourite things to see and do in cool destinations around the world. We caught up with the folks from Experience Labrador — one of our featured attractions from Newfoundland & Labrador — to learn about what they have to offer.

What makes Experience Labrador awesome?

Experience Labrador: Visit one of the most extraordinary coastlines along the Atlantic Ocean, a breathtaking region filled with many natural wonders, including icebergs, whales and many species of sea birds. Follow the local shoreline and small islands of Sandwich Bay; our opportunity to share with you many stories of Labrador’s indigenous culture and lifestyle while you are immersed in the setting in which these stories took place, a land where the Indigenous people met the first explorers from Europe. Search for evidence that the Viking landed on our shores as they made their way south from Greenland.

Explore the beaches of the Wonderstrand, a 56 km sandy beach and the Mealy Mountain National Park Reserve near Cartwright, Labrador. Indigenous people have roamed this land for over 7000 years, Canada’s newest National Park. We offer a range of kayak, boat, craft learning experiences and hiking tours experiencing the Nunatukavut (Southern Inuit), Innu and Settler way of life.

The hardest part for us is deciding what to leave out so there is always room for you to make the trip your own. Our tour packages highlight our gems for those who don’t get to call this place home.

Like all good treasure hunts, getting here is half the adventure and what you find will leave you spellbound.
