Badge of Awesome Communities invites you to share your favourite things to see and do in cool destinations around the world. We caught up with Julia Purcell from Joy of Watercolor Painting — one of our featured attractions from Prince Edward Island — to learn about what they have to offer.
What makes Joy of watercolour awesome?
Julia: If you are looking for a creative and memorable experience to do with friends or by yourself during your visit here on Prince Edward Island, then book a Joy of Watercolor lesson with me. My classes are small and personal and move along at your pace. Your lesson will start at the very beginning by learning how to control wet on wet applications of watercolor, how to mix clean transparent color and much more. You will have access to a wide collection of brushes, Cotman wc paint and Arches paper. You will paint in a bright airy room overlooking a large meadow on one side and flower beds on the other. And we can work outside when desired.
I enjoy sharing the pleasure and thrill of watercolor painting and helping you get started on a new lifelong interest. It’s never too late to start. The painter becomes intensely aware of Nature and sees the world around him or her with a questioning and keen eye. One who studies the sky, the sea, the land or the city with a new enjoyment, always scouting for potential and is never bored. The artist sees the everyday magic all around us. And that is splendid.
I look forward to meeting you and your friends. You are invited to join me in my log home gallery and studio, built on a charming two acre property. It’s all pine with a large Island stone fireplace in the living room. The front acre is cultivated with trees, scrubs, flower and vegetable gardens. The back acre is a little woodland with native trees and wild flowers and ferns. And it’s all paintable and ready for you to enjoy. We are centrally located on this small Island and not hard to find.
Cost is $65 per person. Minimum two people. Contact me by email email@example.com to book a lesson.
