Badge of Awesome Communities invites you to share your favourite things to see and do in cool destinations around the world. We caught up with the folks from the Ministry of Cricket & Other Homeless Sports — one of our featured attractions from the Montreal area — to learn about what they have to offer. What makes the Ministery of Cricket & Other Homeless Sports awesome?

The Ministry: If you’re looking for the ultimate bachelor party, team building activities you can’t find anywhere else, or your best birthday party yet, then Montreal’s Ministry of Cricket & Other Homeless Sports has a treat for you!

Bubble Soccer, Extreme Archery Games, Nerf Battles, Quidditch, Blindfold Soccer – The Ministry has it all! With more than 20 sports and activities to choose from, including a new Sherlock Holmes escape room, Montrealers and Montreal party-goers can experience a range of high adrenaline group activities set in one of Canada’s top multisport centres. There’s 14,000 sq ft of turf soccer fields, batting cages, party space, bar, showers, air conditioning, animators, and all the sporting kit included, set close to public transport and with free parking in the centre of Montreal.

”We wanted to create a cult destination where people could spend 2-3 hours having an amazing time, combining sports and parties,” says Angus Bell, originally from Scotland, who set up the centre with his wife, Candy Crowin. ”We get groups from New York, Toronto, Ottawa, and Boston looking for fun in Montreal, as well as corporate events and even Bar Mitzvahs looking for unique group activities. They run around for an afternoon, like they’re 6 years old again, blasting nerf pellets at each other, shooting arrows at each other like a real-life Hunger Games, or playing Sherlock Holmes in our escape room, and then wash it down with beer after. Everybody comes back.”

The Ministry can entertain groups of 4-135 people, with a range of traditional sports, too, such as soccer, softball, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee, ball hockey and ping pong. There’s all kinds of sizes of fields, special packages for groups, activities from age 6-86, and people can even bring in their own catering.
